As our child grows they acquire different set of skill, beliefs and values. Its important to be careful especially in their first years, because they are very sensitive to what their parents tell them, try not to criticize his skills, talents or mistakes.
Make sure that you give your child positive values and positive beliefs, you need to tell him how important is to belief in his self and follow his passions. As a parent you need to promote his skills, reward him when he gets something good done and tell him how to correct his mistakes.
Be careful not to critciize him in front of his friends or other people, that can damage his self esteem. Its good to tell him that mistakes happen and failure too and they should not have any effect in his self confidence, they are just a learning process.
Here are other things that you can do to boost your kid self esteem:
Tell him to try new things and learn new skills, as he acquire new knowledge and abilities he will feel more confident of him self.
Promote a positive environment in your house, dont let your kid see fights and insults between people in your home.
Tell him to have positive thoughts, tell him how important is to have good feelings and think positive to achieve our goals.
Its important to let the kid have their own hobbies, interest and decisions, that way he should learn to trust him self, to be confident and not depend in other to tell him what to do all the time, let him take safe risks.
Be aware that the environment in which he lives that affect his confidence, it can be at home or at school, so if you see anything wrong in his behavior, talk to him, maybe he has some trouble at school with classmates or someone else.
