One of the most important things that any person should have for a good mental health is self confidence and self esteem, i you lack of any of those, you are limiting your self to achieve more than you ever thought possible.
Usually low self esteem begins in the childhood some people overcome it and others not. There are many circumstances in their childhood that can affect the confidence of a child and also things in his environment that affect.
However, even adults can develop low self esteem due to a trauma, loss of a love, emotional problems, social problems and anything in their environment. Some adults people get to the point that they are so obsessive with how they look physically that they want to do a cosmetic surgery procedure to change themselves to look better.

He then created a book and gave conferences on how to improve self esteem, self confidence and change your negative self image for a positive one, he believed that you first had to accept your self and like your self inside, to have a good self image, you need to change your thoughts to change your self image, his book is called "psycho cybernetics"
