Activities To Boost Self Esteem In Kids |
There are kids that have low self esteem and other that are very confident, if you see that your child present some behaviors of low confidence and self esteem you should do something about it. When your kid is starting to grow up, he experience new emotions and problems that can shape the way he thinks of himself and behaves.
So you want to use some activities to boost self esteem in your kid, there are different ways to stimulate it and im going to show you a few tips that will help you.
Be careful with what you say. You need to be aware of how you say things to your child, for example if he didnt get into the football team, dont discourage them or say that is just not for him, instead tell him that he did a great job and you are very proud of it.
Be positive. Children tend to imitate their parents and when they are growing they are very sensitive to what they perceive. If you are constantly pessimistic and negative, he will acquire those behaviors.
Correct your children inaccurate beliefs. sometimes a child will make assumptions of what he can do or he cant, sometimes their friends tell him what he cant achieve, if your child has a negative belief about being successful and he thinks he cant be a great soccer player, you have to tell him that he can achieve more than he believe, that he have his limitations, but those are beyond what he can imagine, he can do and achieve whatever he makes a decision to do.
Be affective. Giving hugs and love to your child is very important for his development, he needs to feel the support and love of their parents that will give him confidence.
Have a safe home environment. If in your home are constant fights and insults between people, the child will be afraid and will develop low self esteem.
Watch for external factors. Your child might feel safe at home, but he might have problems in the school with his friends or other people. Be aware of it, talk to your child and talk to the director if necessary.
Generate constructive activities. Let your child be creative, take him to activities that involve cooperation and not competition.
Those are some important activities to boost the self esteem of your kid and not hurt it, you should know that needs to feel in a safe environment and be rewarded for his good achievements. Dont abuse or hit your child under any circumstances, that can create traumas and long term psychology problems.
